Khadija Ibrahim Public School — a flagship project

DOST Foundation has successfully established and supported several schools in remote and underserved areas of the region, providing access to quality education for numerous students. DOST is a pioneer in the field of education and continues its efforts to promote quality education in the remote villages of the region. In this context, eight schools are running under the umbrella of DOST, out of which education in two schools is completely free and in the remaining schools very reasonable fees are charged from the children.

Efforts have been made to provide all the necessary facilities to the students in these schools; science labs and computer labs have been established in some schools and efforts are being made to provide these missing facilities in the others. These schools have contributed to increasing literacy rates and creating greater educational opportunities for the local population. The foundation has also emphasized the importance of girls’ education and has been instrumental in promoting gender equality in education.

DOST School

DOST supports the Global Partnership for Education’s strategic directions, which focus on learning outcomes and the education of females in the remote areas of Baltistan. Our projects are designed to expand and improve comprehensive early childhood education, especially for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children. We are committed to ensuring that all children, particularly girls, children in difficult circumstances and those belonging to ethnic minorities, have access to and complete free and compulsory primary education of good quality.

DOST works towards ensuring that the educational needs of all young people and adults are met through access to appropriate learning and life-skills programs. We are committed to eliminating gender disparities in primary and secondary education, with a focus on ensuring girls’ equal access to basic education of good quality. Lastly, DOST works to improve the quality of education and ensure excellence so that recognized and measurable learning outcomes are achieved by all, especially in literacy, numeracy, and essential life skills.

Through workshops, trainings, curriculum development as well as subject matter experts, DOST supports curriculum development for NGOs and governments in the areas of community focused vocational, early childhood development, entrepreneurial and empowerment programmes. We also support and facilitate efforts towards training formalization, governance, process management, project management, quality management, monitoring and evaluation, transparency, anti-corruption, accountability and accreditation. We believe in measurable results developed in collaboration with academics and practitioners.

Reconstruction of school

The Khadija Ibrahim Public School Arindo Gones was destroyed due to snow avalanches. The school reconstruction project, made possible by Mr. Zeshaan, friend of the DFP Chairman, was successfully completed within the specified period of time. The community, kids, and educators all supported the transformation. Beyond just improving the physical infrastructure, the rebuilding had a positive effect on the community’s spirit of pride and attention to education.
